Tuesday, December 7, 2004: Ersoft is back!
Ersoft is back up and running after being down for several months!! Thank goodness.
Wednesday, July 21, 2004: RSS!
I am proud to say that erSOFT now has an RSS feed. If it lacks something that you feel that it should have, then please e-mail ejona at ejona@ersoft.org. If you would like to view the feed to have your aggregator grab it, then go to http://ersoft.org/rss.xml.
Wednesday, July 21, 2004: First post using new software
ErSOFT is now using a program called phppen programmed by ejona to manage the website. This same program will probably be used in (upcomming?) blogs.
Tuesday, June 15, 2004: favicon
I got really mad at the performance of the favicon so I decided to figure out how to make a better icon using real tools (instead of renaming a bmp). So now you see a new favicon (you might have to do a shift-refresh or view it manually so that your browser doesn't use a cached version). The actual icon might change again (I am playing) but at least now it is a 'true' icon. Oh, and did I mention that it has more then one resolution?

Also, watch out for RSS - it should be comming soon. I have looked at what it will take, and it won't be very hard... sitting down and doing it is a different story...
Wednesday, May 19, 2004: Changes
As you should have noticed, activity on erSoft has declined to zero. There is actually some activity left, but it has nothing to do with erSoft's original purpose. The members of erSoft are moving on to newer, bigger, and better things; however, erSoft might come along for the ride and become a set of blogs, forums, and whatever else we can come up with. A long post will arise when a good understanding of what is going to happen is known.
Sunday, January 4, 2004: NEW DOMAIN NAME!
Ersoft.org has been registered! That means from now on all of the *.homeip.net domains are now obsolete. New *.ersoft.org domains have been made (and more will follow) to refer to the old homeip.net addresses.
Thursday, December 25, 2003: Merry Christmas and Jesterak.com.
Merry Christmas. Hope your time off is going well. JAK (Jester Animated Kreations) now has bought a domain and therefore has moved from ersoft.homeip.net/~rojahon to http://www.jesterak.com.
Wednesday, December 17, 2003: Recent Changes...
The new index is index.html - not index.php. Ejona has made a posting script that automatically rebuilds index.html, newsarchive.html (the new news archive page), and about.html. He will be building this script's capabilities as time goes on. If you would like to add a news post, then, create a file in the pagegen/news directory and name it the date of the post (YYYYMMDD). Edit the file and put your alias on the first line, put the title on the second line, and put the post on the third line. Afterwards, go to ersoft.homeip.net/pagegen - make sure that your browser actually loads it! Browsers like to cache things, so to make sure that the browser actually runs the script, press the refresh. That's it.
Tuesday, December 16, 2003: News Posting Changes
I have begun making a php script that embeds all of the news posts into the main page and the archive page from files. AKA - to add a new post, you would add a file to the news directory and then run the nifty little script. I do plan to make it nicer (by adding in an editing client into the script). There is a little example at news.html and the script itself is news.php. Take a look.
Thursday, December 11, 2003: Scheduled Down Time
Friday the 12 the server will go down... I am not sure precicely when it will go down or when it will come back up. I will tell you that it will be atleast Sunday (doubtful) before it comes back up. The cause for the down time is we are moving the server. Right now the server doesn't have a connection to the internet between 2 am and 6 am (CMT). When the server comes back up it should have a constant connection. Sorry for any problems that this causes. (AHHH! I can't talk on the message board! What! How am I supposed to live!)
Wednesday, December 10, 2003: New Site Layout
The site is now using XHTML with a style sheet. I will soon be making a version for printing purposes. Anyways, the rest of the site still needs to be converted. I like how it combines the message board and the main pages better. If you have any suggestions feel free to inform me.
Monday, November 17, 2003: Testing XHTML
I have made the home page with XHTML. You can find it here. Tell me what you think of it. Don't forget to look at the programming...
Wednesday, November 5, 2003: PHP Message Board Added!
I have added phpBB to our site. I am not necessarily going to remove the perl message board but I am planning to see which is liked more. Personally I still like the perl board however I do realize there are PHP fans out there. I would like your input - write on the boards or e-mail me to support your favorite. The new board can me found at http://ersoft.homeip.net/phpBB2/.
Thursday, October 9, 2003: PHP Added!
I have added PHP to our system. You will probably see improvements from time to time that use PHP. I have an example here (warning: nothing exciting).

Update: I have updated the site to use PHP instead of JavaScript!
Wednesday, October 1, 2003: Http File Manager Added!
I have added a nice little file explorer here.
Saturday, September 27, 2003: Bye, bye JavaScript!
I have made a perl program to handle the macros that we use on this site. The perl program handles the functions similiar to how JavaScript hadles them. The only real difference is that the script tag is no longer needed. If you would like to see a demo of this go here.

Note: This news item is now obsolete due to the fact the we used PHP instead of perl.
Friday, September 19, 2003: New Basic Program Added
I have added a new basic program to the basic program list. It is called base and would you believe that it converts a number from a base to another base? This program is not long at all but it can show you that semi-effecient programs are fairly easily attainable.
Thursday, September 18, 2003: Finished server
The new server is complete with all options correct to the best of our knowledge. Plese enjoy the site and don't forget to visit the messageboard.
Monday, September 1, 2003: New Server (again)
You are currently at the ersoft.homeip.net server. This server is in the making but is now up. The hopes of this server is to supply pages for erSOFT. Another server will be handling jak. As soon as this server has been up for a little while (and maybe after it gets PHP installed) then the ersoft.homeip.net url will also point to this computer. If you find any down links please e-mail me.

Update: I was able to get a simple perl program to work here.

Update: I have gotten yabb (a perl messageboard) to effectively work here. All I know though is that is correctly produces html pages - I do not know what functions do and don't work. I am pretty sure that the e-mail does not work. I am not going to change the link at the top of this page yet just to see how it all goes. Note: I currently do not have a graphical web browser, and in fact, I don't even have a working OS on my main computer. Therefore my abilites to work on the messageboard are hindered.

Note: I have configured the server to allow everyone to see the server-status page. Also, the url should always be ersoft.homeip.net. If you find anything otherwise it should still work but it would be nice to know.
Sunday, August 3, 2003: Busy
Sorry for the lack of updates but we've been really busy. We are still trying to get the ftp up and we still don't have our dedicated Linux server as we want. Believe me though we are working as hard as we can, so please just sit tight.
Sunday, July 27, 2003: New Domain Name!
Sick of typing in ersoft.homeip.net? Well now you can find us at www.ersoft.tk!
Saturday, July 26, 2003: Splash Screen
I took off the the splash screen. The reason being is the er?SOFT website is supposed to be a simple little programming site. If you want cool flash animations and stuff check out the JAK webpage. Currently it is at jak.iwarp.com, but soon it will be moved to our new server.
Thursday, July 17, 2003: Splash Screen
I created a little flash animation that we could use as our splash screen to the website. It's my first attempt so it is a little buggy, but it's still nice. Click this news heading to check it out.
Wednesday, July 16, 2003: New Navigation System
I added a new navigation system to the Programs page. It should make things easier now that we have the Good Downloads section. Originally it wasn't working, but now it's up and running. Go check it out.
Tuesday, July 15, 2003: Good Downloads
I added a list of good downloads to the Programs page. They're not our programs, but they're just good things to have. Currently the list contains compilers, zippers(archivers), and graphlink transmitters.
Monday, July 14, 2003: Banner Ads 3!
I know this is probably getting annoying but I change the banner ad layout again. Now the banner ads will show up at the very bottom(so they load last). This should further improve the speed of the site.
Thursday, July 10, 2003: New Search Engine
I changed the search engine from Google to another one. I love Google but this one should let you search our site as well as the web. If you try it and it doesn't work it's probably because they haven't indexed us yet. I am not exactly sure how long it will take, but I'll let you know if it's going to be longer than a day or two.
Monday, July 7, 2003: Banner Ads 2
I have reduced the amount of banner ads on the site. Now banner ads will only show up on the home page and on the message board. I also took away a banner ad or two on the home page and the message board. I hope it helps those poor soles who still have dial up (ejona) :-P
Sunday, June 22, 2003: Banner Ads
I have been adding a few banner ads. One is to our guestbook and the other one is an ad for a banner network. A banner network spreads banner ads across a lot of websites. Why is this good? Well, every time someone clicks on the banner ad we get credits. The more credits we have the more banner ads we get on other sites. Confused? Basically it gets us free advertisement. If you want to help the er?SOFT community grow, please visit the site on the ad below the news as well as on our other pages. Thank you!
Friday, June 20, 2003: News Archive
The site was getting a little cluttered so I made a news archive. If you want to read older news for some reason, click the link at the bottom of the news column, or if you want to do it the hard way go to http://ersoft.freeservers.com/arcnews.html.
Thursday, June 19, 2003: New Short Address
If you are lazy and don't want to type out ersoft.freeservers.com, you can now type ersoft.rom.cd. Don't ask me where the rom.cd thing came from.
Wednesday, June 18, 2003: Project z80 IDE Canceled
We regret to inform you, that we will no longer be working on z80 IDE. There are already so many IDE's out for z80, that we decided it wasn't worth it. This isn't necessarily bad news. This will give us more time to work on erCHAT, which we hope to finish sometime before this summers up. We greatly apologize for the delay.
Monday, June 16, 2003: New Source of erCHAT
erCHAT has been rewritten thanks to ejona. The source is much more organized and just down right beautiful! Not many changes have been made to the actual looks of the program; however, the new organized version should allow us to move quicker. We are still not sure when exactly we maybe finished. Please, be patient.

If you are interested in seeing the new source, you can download it from the programs page.
Friday, May 23, 2003: Calculator Cursor
Tell us weather or not we should have a calculator cursor. It only works with IE so far but its still cool.
Tuesday, May 13, 2003: erCHAT Update
erCHAT is comming along fine (although much slower than I would like). An alpha version of the software is about to be released for the 89 and 83+ (and they work together). So far the 89 version only needs more options. The 83+ version is working, however, far from done. Please check back soon.
Sunday, April 13, 2003: erCHAT
Kalkchat89c is now going to be referred to as erCHAT. erCHAT v1.0 is a few weeks(if that) from being completed. This version will allow you to chat over a large network of calculators. Yes! A large network. We have plans for making F.M. radio transmitters(by Michael Jan), which in theory...

Click on this news heading to learn more!
Sunday, March 23, 2003: Dots!
New dot programming! The dots should look the same but the code is better and so it should run more fluently on slower computers.
Monday, March 17, 2003: eLock 83/83+ released!
eLock has now been released for the 83s. Although there is one thing I would like to fix later, it is a working version without any bugs. Try it out.
